President’s Welcome
Welcome to the website of the New Mexico Chapter of HFMA. As we confront the significant financial challenges brought about from the post pandemic, it is imperative that we communicate regularly with each other to discuss strategies for the many issues we are confronting including continued critical staff shortages, post pandemic operational changes, and ensuring financial support of our mission of caring for patients.
I had the opportunity to meet Current National HFMA Chair Dennis Dahlen, CFO Mayo Clinic, at the 2022 National Annual Conference in Denver. I also heard him speak at this year’s Conference in Nashville. He is challenging us to make an impact at healthcare organizational levels. The urgency in his challenge is reflected in Dahlen’s theme for the year – It’s time. This is a definite call to action not only for HFMA and its members but also for the industry at large. It is time for us in New Mexico as well. I am challenging you to make an impact in your organization.
The resources available through the National HFMA website (www.hfma.org) are significant. Whether you are an Enterprise and Individual member, please take the time to investigate the many educational articles and courses to meet continuing professional education requirements and access the certification tracks that will enhance your marketability and develop the management skills needed by the healthcare providers who employ you. There are many resources available for us.
The NM HFMA board of directors is volunteer based and includes representatives from healthcare providers, our vendor partners, and community members. My goal for the year is to improve the member experience for our NM membership. Be on the lookout for more communication, more presence, and more in general from the NM chapter. We have increased our board membership in the last few months to help us achieve this goal. We are eager to serve our membership as It’s time.
Our next in person event will be September 18th and 19th 2023 in Albuquerque, NM. Please keep an eye out for save the date emails and updates on our events page. Our meetings provide networking opportunities and allow our sponsors to show case their services which drive best practice solutions for healthcare providers seeking to improve their financial performance.
